Artist Statment
I’ve never liked being in front of cameras; I would always prefer to be behind them, being the one capturing the image. I have always been like this since I was a kid, and now I get more chances to actually do what I love. As I’ve grown, not just as an artist but as a person, I do recognize that I’ve subconsciously started to develop a philosophy around how and why I shoot, but also my regular life.
Growing up I feel the world feels faster, we live in the now and in the future, and everything is racing by us trying to get to our destination as quick as possible. I’m not too fond of this way of living; I feel that we miss moments in time that are precious being preoccupied with menial tasks. More and more I started to realize that whenever I took photos, the world slowed a bit, and I could appreciate smaller details that I don’t think I would ever see or pay much attention to.
For me, my goal is to slow down time, to appreciate the life around us, and hopefully share that with others. Be that friends and family, or complete strangers I hope that I can invoke some sense of tranquillity and peace for them, as it does for me. These images represent life, but more specifically a present and a moment in time forever frozen.
I have found peace through art, my life, and the lives around me are what strives me to be not just a better artist but a better person. Life will always keep moving forward, and I know I have to as well, even if I don’t like how fast we are getting through it, I want to enjoy my time and be happy.
